Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri is an Indian actress who has gained recognition for her performance in Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Beta Saajan. In the late 80s, she started her acting career and gained a lot of attention for her role of Tezaab, in which she was portrayed by veteran actor Anil Kapooor. In the following film, she was a part of Aamir In Dil. Born into a middle-class family in Mumbai she began learning to dance at an early age. At the age of 16 actress, she began performing but suffered through a number of years since the majority of her films at first were unsuccessful. She found fame and became one of India's top film actresses. She took a break from acting following her marriage before returning into the entertainment business. She was a key character for the film Gulaab Gang, a film which explores women's struggles within India. Dixit has been nominated for fifteen Filmfare Awards. Of these, she has won 8. Dixit was also awarded the Padma Shri the fourth highest civilian distinction in India. Her work in the social sector is well known.
